2014 Restore Use of the Downtown Bike Trail Fundraiser
Thank you to all of our donors and sponsors that have helped us to get the downtown bike trail snow plowed this winter!
This will allow our runners to run in a safe designated area away from traffic. We hope to put an emphasis on making our community more walkable and bike-friendly year-round.
Bike Trail Update (Feb.17) :
#1: Love Muskegon stickers have been mailed to all of you that provided an address. I have several stickers for people with no address but make it out to runs from time to time. Come out for a run and hopefully I can give you your stickers!
#2: A formal Thank You needs to be sent to Brandon Bolde of Arbor Care Enterprises in Whitehall. After we tried to clear the trail with the Bobcat and ran out of room to put the snow- Brandon came to the rescue! He has an awesome piece of equipment, a Kubota with a 6" snowblower attached, and can go through just about any amount of snowfall in minutes. He helped us finish the stretch from the YMCA to 7th street (0.3 miles) and even carried on eastward towards Shoreline Inn. Despite all of our amazing efforts, the trail is still a little too narrow for a snowplow to get on the trail. I've made another round of phone calls and am trying to get some professionals back on the trail. Also, after reaching out to the city I met with Kevin Santos who was going to help widen up the trail some but after going for a run on the 16th, I didn't notice a dramatic difference in the tight areas that would permit a truck to get on the path.
In the meantime, who has a truck that we could load up some snowblowers? We can make it a party!
